Established in 1993, KOMAS has been the pioneer NGO in Malaysia dedicated to using creative and participative methodology in human rights education. Its main programmes includes the FREEDOMFILMFEST, an annual human rights festival; BANGSA MALAYSIA, an award winning programme on non discrimination education and CITIZENSHIP & VOTER EDUCATION. KOMAS have a close partnership with several GRASSROOTS COMMUNITIES namely the Indigenous People and also urban poor sectors whereby we assist in COMMUNITY ORGANISING TRAINING and also ADVOCACY of their issues. KOMAS has produced many educational videos and publications on various topics.
KOMAS is the organiser of the FreedomFilmFest.

The European Union Delegation to Malaysia was opened in 2003 and since then dialogue, policy interaction and cooperation with both federal and state authorities, the Malaysian and EU business community as well as the civil society has increased progressively.
Malaysia is the EU’s second most important trading partner in ASEAN, after Singapore. In 2006 under the new Generalised System of Preferences (GSP) to formalise bilateral trade between EU and Malaysia and to increase the preferential treatment of Malaysian merchandise/products as exports to EU from 16 percent to 81 percent.
In 2008, the EU imported €17.5 billion worth of goods from Malaysia.
Cooperation between the EU and Malaysia exists in the areas of mutually interest, namely economic relations, science and technology, education and environment.
