Ke Arah Hutan Lestari

Community-Based Natural Resource Management (CBNRM) is a method that allows Indigenous people to assert their land rights and to demonstrate that they are capable of working together with government authorities to protect the forest and derive subsistence and identity from it.
This video was the result of the efforts of young indigenousvideographers from 4 communities in Sabah that are using CBNRM, aspart of a capacity building initiative of the Indigenous Peoples Network of Malaysia (JOAS).
Pengurusan Sumber Asli Berdasarkan Komuniti (CBNRM) adalah kaedah yang membolehkan mereka mempertahankan hak tanah adat mereka dan pada masa yang sama bekerjasama dengan pihak berkuasa untuk melindungi hutan yang merupakan kehidupan dan juga asas dan identiti mereka sebagai komuniti Orang Asal.
Video ini adalah hasil inisiatif Jaringan Orang Asal SeMalaysia (JOAS) untuk membina kapasiti belia Orang Asal dari 4 komuniti di Sabah untuk mendokumentasi isu- isu yang mereka hadapi, sambil menjelaskan bagaimana CBNRM membolehkan mereka menggunakan hasil hutan dan pada masa yang sama melindunginya.

The majority of landmine victims in Burma are not soldiers but civilians. This film gives us a rare glimps of life in closed-door Burma where its people are still suffering from the effects of landmine usage.

In the late 1990s, three victims of police brutality made headlines around the country: Amadou Diallo, the young West African man whose killing sparked intense public protest; Anthony Baez, killed in an illegal choke-hold; and Gary (Gidone) Busch, a Hasidic Jew shot and killed outside his Brooklyn home. Every Mother’s Son profiles three New York mothers who unexpectedly find themselves united to seek justice and transform their grief into an opportunity for profound social change.
Pada lewat 1990-an, tiga mangsa keganasan polis menjadi berita utama di seluruh negara: Amadou Diallo, Anthony Baez dan Gary (Gidone) Busch yang terbunuh. Filem ini memaparkan kisah ibu-ibu mangsa tersebut bekerjasama untuk mendapatkan keadilan dan menerima kesedihan sebagai peluang membawa perubahan sosial.

Nathaniel Tan completed a degree in Peace and Conflict Studies at Harvard, and worked in East Timor, Sierra Leone and Aceh before coming back to Malaysia where he worked in the NGO sector and with Parti Keadilan Rakyat. In 2007 he was arrested under the Official Secrets Act for comments that appeared on his blog and detained for four days before being released. He is co-editor of four books on Malaysian politics and civil society, one of which was confiscated by the police in early 2010. He currently continues to write and work in the education sector.
